The speaker is George Ramos. A resident of Miami who testified before The State Affairs Committee. He was just one of many pro enforcement speakers who told the Florida House compelling stories. The outcome of the hearings on the proposed illegal immigration enforcement bills, was promised to be a PCB (proposed council bill) The benefit of this type of action is that a PCB serves as a Senate sister bill . A major hurdle would have been avoided. But the Republican House leadership, after the hearings, did not combine the 6 bills into a PCB as promised. As a matter of fact, one of the Speaker's (Marco Rubio) lieutenants went on record bragging how they acted to sabotage the bills well beforehand in the Miami Herald. The decision was made well beforehand, despite the will of the majority of Floridians. The Speaker's office and the council called earnest citizens like this man to testify. Despite the expense of travelling hundreds of miles and time to testify before the House ( multiplied by many), it seems the whole thing was a charade to placate and stall proponents of these legislative efforts until it was too late for the session to act.
What kind of behavior is this from our elected officials? Furthermore, the powerbase in the house, those that decide what will be heard, and voted on, are mostly Dade County Reps.
Interestingly they ALL appear in opposition. Not only that, some of them are downright condescending and insulting, towards those who believe in the rule of law. They even have a problem with the term illegal alien, you know, the exact verbage used by the Federal Government to define our immigration laws. Odd isn't it?
Does Dade County run Florida?
