Abstract:
This talk discusses how to choose a topic to work on and how to write up results, including both the form of an article and what we mean by good writing. How to choose a potential outlet for your work and how to deal with journals are also discussed. What is a good journal—the hierarchy of publication outlets in economics—and the difficulties in getting published are considered. The overall goal is to get across the nature of good publishing in economics so that the listener can perform better in the "economics publishing game".
